ART SUPPLIES TWO NEW LASERS FOR C.A.R.T INSPECTION FOR 1998 SEASON

Advanced Racing Technologies (ART) of Staatsburg New York and Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) of Bloomfield Hills Michigan, continue into the 1998 season for the third year in a row. Two new manual rotating lasers with linear scale targets have been added to CART arsenal of reference measuring devices. Their automatic rotating version system has been an integral component of CART's Technical Inspection process throughout the 1997 CART Championship. The automatic system was featured in the "Ford Facts" segment on ABC Sports coverage of the Miller 200 in August, 1997.

The manual rotating unit is a purpose built laser-optical system that creates a high-definition, visual reference plane for use in measuring conformance with CART's technical specifications. Typical uses are measurement of side pod height, rear exit diffusers, and front and rear wing heights. Current enhancements include work on a new manual 360 degree rotary head and new laser target with digital readout and SPC capabilities. This new manual laser device was introduced at the California 500 this past September 26, 1997. Sales to CART teams include Bettenhauson Motorsports, Newman/Haas Racing, Patrick Racing, Penske Racing, Players/Forsythe Racing, and Target Chip Ganassi Racing, The laser head will be offered to the motorsports public as a component for additional custom solutions.
